History of OAMT
The Oregon Association for Music Therapy began in
the fall of 1977 as a support group for area Music
Therapists. Since that time it has evolved into a
professional, non-profit organization working towards
promoting the growth and overall quality of the Music
Therapy services in the State of Oregon.
Goals and Objectives of OAMT
The goals for the Oregon Association for Music
Therapy (OAMT) shall be those which support Music
Therapy most effectively in restoring, maintaining, and
improving the mental and physical health of all persons
seeking Music Therapy treatment.
- Promoting the growth of Music Therapy as a
profession in the state of Oregon
- Provide a central location for information
pertaining to Music Therapy
- Promote quality Music Therapy services for clients
- Provide education and professional support for area music therapists
- Increasing public awareness of Music Therapy and it’s benefits
