The mission of the American Music Therapy Association is to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services in a rapidly changing world.
WRAMTA is one of the regional chapters of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). The purpose of this organization is the advancement of music within the western region. Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregaon, Utah, and Washington and U.S. Territories and outlying areas in the Pacific Ocean make up the Western Region.
Offers a Bachelor’s of Music Therapy. Located in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, Marylhurst’s serene campus and liberal arts environment creates a setting conducive to the study of music therapy.
Upon completion of the music therapy courses and related coursework, students will be qualified to apply for a clinical internship. This internship will be at one of Marylhurst University’s affiliate internship sites or one of AMTA’s national training sites. Following successful completion of the internship, the student will receive a Marylhurst University diploma and be eligible to take the national board certification exam to earn the professional credential MT-BC (Music Therapist – Board Certified).
